The road to hell is paved with good intentions

Do not do good because it is in some rule book to do good. Do good because you know the bad.
because you’ve seen the abyss that is your own despair.
We are taught to do the right thing. To smile when your picture is being taken. To be quiet while the teacher is talking, to get good grades, to follow the rules…
to conform.
to conform to some vague ideal that somehow we’ve all silently agreed upon.
they say “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”
conformity is that road.
It has taken millions of lives over human history. People of all walks of life have been pushed down this path. The sad part is, none of them knew it.
None of them knew why, that even when they did the right thing, the good thing, that it never felt right. They might’ve gotten some applause from their peers, but their action felt soulless.
Because it was.
Now look, I didn’t write all of this to tell you to be a bad person. I write all of this to tell you, do not run from the part of you that wants to see the world burn. Do not run from the part of you that wants to break all the rules and live out in the woods. To set societies standards ablaze and never look back.
Because it is only when you have the courage to accept this part of you that you can truly do good for the world.
Otherwise your TRYING to do good will all be done in vain.
You don’t realize it, but a large part of your being has been suppressed over the years. It’s the reason why you can’t yell as loud as you can in a room full of people.
Try it.
You won’t.
Because every cell in your being tells you no. That you’re going to upset a lot of people. People are going to stare at you, judge you, yell at you.
Have you ever realized that babies don’t have this problem. Do you think they ever worry what other people are going to think when they cry at the top of their lungs.
I know we’ve all been on at least a few flights where we know that’s not the case.
They let it all out. They don’t care whose listening.
When they smile, there isn’t an ounce of facetiousness.
That is why you FEEL their smile and it makes you want to smile.
Instead of the artificial smiles we give to strangers while we’re waiting in line at some coffee shop.
This is because you have betrayed yourself. You’ve taken what you truly feel and shoved it way down into some back closet. So that you can be perceived as good and holy.
The reason we have war is because it is the expression of billions of people’s back closets. All of that energy has to go somewhere.
So what’s the solution?
Enough is enough. Stop trying to repress it. Feel it.
And through this awareness of the bad you will transform it.
Your actions will be good, your smiles will be bright and full of energy. Because finally YOU are full of energy.
Energy that has been held captive for too long. Stuck inside of a cage of your own making.
Please, dare to be bad, so you can be good.
